THE LINKERY
DESCRIPTION:
Before we started up SDUT, we were just getting into working with more and more reclaimed woods and urban forestry. We met the owner of the Linkery as they were getting ready to move into their new location and were fortunate enough to build their table tops.

Years later the Linkery remodeled and SDUT was commisioned to build a special door to separate a small private room from the rest of the restaurant. The only design direction was that the door was to be a sliding door and needed some sort of window or opening to be able to see into the room.

Taking inspiration from a fence I saw on a train ride from Tijuana MX to Tecate MX (yes, that's where the beer comes from), I saw a rather striking fence built from salvaged pallete wood. Sine I was on the train with Jay from the Linkery, I decided to make the window in homage to that fence. The woods used are reclaimed redwood and cedar fenceboards as well as reclaimed Douglas Fir. The frame is custom fabricated, blackened, and lacquered steel.

The other door was from when they first opened that we built pre SDUT, but we think it's cool and worth showing off. It's built with reclaimed Douglas Fir, custom fabricated steel frame, door handle, and jamb.

Each piece of SDUT furniture is one-of-a-kind. Some of the items pictured here have already been sold, but we're able to custom-build pieces based on these designs, as well as modify them according to your vision. Due to variations in each slab of wood, new orders will not be identical to the item pictured. Dimensions are as described, and while you can always expect the same superior craftsmanship, the color, grain pattern and type of wood may vary.
