FOR DESIGNERS & ARCHITECTS

Locally Reclaimed Wood for Thoughtful Design Projects

San Diego Urban Timber works directly with designers, architects, and builders who want real material with real origin — not mass-produced lumber with no story behind it.

We reclaim trees from San Diego County, mill them locally, dry them properly, and turn them into slabs, architectural wood elements, and custom pieces that can be used in residential and commercial projects.

If your work focuses on authenticity, sustainability, and meaningful materials, we’re here to collaborate with you.

How Designers Work With SD Urban Timber.

We’re not a traditional lumber yard and we’re not a mass-production shop. Instead, we work directly with designers and architects who want something more thoughtful than standard materials.

You can work with us if you need:

  • Custom slabs for a specific project

  • Architectural wood elements (mantels, beams, statement pieces)

  • Reclaimed wood with a clear origin story

  • Custom furniture designed to fit a specific space

  • Locally sourced wood that aligns with sustainable design goals

Our goal is to make the material work for the design — not force the design to work around generic lumber.

Many designers come to us looking for slabs that feel natural, unique, and impossible to replicate with factory-produced materials.

Because every slab comes from a local tree, no two pieces are ever the same. Grain patterns, edges, and character marks become part of the final design rather than something to hide.

This makes reclaimed wood ideal for Dining tables, Conference tables, Reception desks, Kitchen islands, Statement shelving, Feature walls.

Custom Slabs for Projects

The woman is wearing a pink and purple plaid shirt and jeans, while the man is dressed in a brown T-shirt with a rectangular graphic and jeans. They are both smiling, with their arms around each other.

Architectural Woodwork

Beyond furniture, we also create architectural wood elements that help bring warmth and authenticity into modern spaces.

This includes Custom mantels, Beams, Entryway statement pieces, Wood features for interior spaces, and Reclaimed wood elements designed specifically for residential projects

Everything is built around the material itself — not copied from templates or mass-produced designs.

A Simple Collaboration Process.

Working with us is straightforward and flexible. Most designers reach out at one of three stages:

  1. Early design stage (looking for material options)

  2. During a project (needing slabs or custom pieces)

  3. Near completion (final design elements and finishing touches)

Once you reach out, we’ll talk about:

  • Your project

  • What type of material you need

  • Timeline

  • Possible solutions using locally reclaimed wood

From there, we guide the process and make sure everything moves forward clearly and efficiently.

Work With Locally Reclaimed Wood — Without The Guess Work

One of the biggest challenges designers face with reclaimed wood is uncertainty.

Where did it come from? Is it properly dried? Will it hold up long-term?

We handle the entire process — from rescuing the tree to milling and drying the wood properly — so you can confidently use reclaimed wood in your projects without worrying about quality or durability.
